Independent Director
Brother Roberto “Bobby” Casingal brings more than four decades of experience as an educator and school administrator within the De La Salle network of schools in the Philippines. His tour of duty has taken him across the country, serving in St. Joseph High School and the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod, Negros; La Salle Academy in Iligan, Lanao del Norte; La Salle Green Hills; De La Salle University; De La Salle Dasmariñas in Cavite; De La Salle Araneta University in Malabon; and De La Salle Lipa in Batangas.
Br. Casingal joined Bayanihan Bank’s Board of Directors in 2026, drawn by the bank’s commitment to reach the farthest-flung communities and serve the underserved – a mission closely aligned with the De La Salle Brothers’ long-standing dedication to uplifting marginalized sectors. He was particularly impressed by the bank’s determination to seek out those who would otherwise be subject to usurious lending rates, including pensioners, teachers, and unbanked borrowers, and provide them with access to fair and compassionate financial services.
Reflecting on the impact that the bank can create, Br. Casingal draws a parallel with the De La Salle Brothers’ work in education. “One thing I have noticed in our schools is that we have seen communities uplifted in the areas where we operate. We have seen barrios evolve into middle-class communities. Because of the presence of our schools, we have been part of that development. And I think there is great potential for Bayanihan Bank to contribute in that way, to uplift people from poverty. In fact, more and more, I believe it is not just poverty alleviation. It is wealth creation.”
Expressing his support for the bank’s brave expansion into remote communities, he shares, “So long as Bayanihan Bank continues in that direction, I’ll help in whatever way I can.”
